How does the
Dragonfly® Device Work?
The
DragonflyTM lure is a patented
microprocessor-controlled system that emits three powerful attractants:
C02, Octenol and the thermal image of body
beat. The C02 and Octenol simulate human
and animal respiration, which are long-range attractants. The thermal lure
produces the infrared image of blood near the surface of the skin. No
matter what the temperature, the microprocessor maintains these
attractants at optimal levels, or as one entomologist aptly put it, "To a
mosquito, the Dragonfly always looks like a shaved rabbit" - otherwise
known as the perfect target.
Biting insects circle
their prey to find a place to land. When they circle the Dragonfly device,
they fly through its outstretched wings, which house unique electrostatic
panels. The microprocessor sends an electric pulse to these panels many times
each second. Insects flying near a panel are doomed, even if they don't touch
it!

They are hit by a
miniature lightning bolt, die instantly, and fall away intact. Ordinary
zappers attract large beneficial insects and explode them - spraying
insect fragments into the air nearby.
