In USDA forced-choice olfactometer tests, all mosquitoes picked up
the scent of a human hand and left the holding chamber. About 30%
of mosquitoes went to a chamber baited with a hand protected by Deet,
and the remaining 70% went to the chamber with an unprotected hand.
In trials with Conceal, 30% to 40% of mosquitoes could not pick up
any scent and never left the holding chamber. About 15% of mosquitoes
went to the chamber baited with a human hand protected by Conceal,
and the remaining 45% to 55% went to the chamber with an unprotected
human hand.
Conceal protects animals too. Want proof? The United States Equestrian
Team used Conceal to protect a stable of million-dollar horses for
the Olympic Team in the midst of the New Jersey West Nile Virus scare
in the summer of 2000.
